Today, technology enables us to use all-ceramic bridges, which means bridges without a metal core. All-ceramic bridges do not have the classic metal skeleton for their base, but as we understand it, they are made entirely of porcelain. They have excellent durability, excellent life, since the porcelain does not discolour over time and give an incredibly natural and aesthetic result. Another advantage of all-ceramics is that as long as the gums emerge and the limits of construction are uncovered, there is no aesthetic problem since the metal skeleton is missing.

Their disadvantage is that we can not make a whole-ceramic bridge with more than 4 teeth. The solution of all-ceramic is contraindicated when the patient exerts strong chewing pressures (when chewing, gritting or tightening the teeth, etc.) or when there are problems in the conjunction, so an accurate case selection should be made. Their use is especially recommended for anterior teeth because the intense chewing pressures exerted on the posterior teeth can lead to breakage of the restoration. However, in patients without malfuctions, with a moderate degree of musculoskeletal system, it can also – in small size bridges – be used in posterior teeth.
