Immobile prosthesis, unlike mobile, is intended to repair deficiencies of only hard tissue in a permanent and stable way. That is why it requires a different approach, as besides adequate preparation, individualisation of treatment requires special post-prosthetic maintenance procedures. With this notion a stationary prosthetic restoration can not be considered – nor is it – merely a mechanical substitute for some missing teeth. Its design, construction and operation are governed by the laws of Biology and Engineering. The understanding of these laws, their proper appreciation and their balanced combination are a basic necessity of Immobile Prosthetics, which is a wonderful combination of Biological Science and Art.
